About Liberal Voices

Liberal Voices is the new home for Liberal Democrats who value independent thought and rigorous debate in the John Stuart Mill tradition.

The Liberal Voices Team

We are a group of Liberal Democrat members and activists who believe that the open discussion of policy and political philosophy is vital for the future of democratic politics and liberalism. No subject should be off limits. Open debate should only be constrained by civility and respect for other opinions and the right to express them. This is a new initiative for members. There is currently no platform for Liberal Democrats that fills this purpose.  

The Liberal Democrats and its predecessor the Liberal Party have a proud tradition of thinking independently, challenging the status quo and creating policy that will lead to a more liberal society. The Preamble to the Constitution is a summary of Liberal Democrat beliefs and aims and is a template for testing new ideas.

Editorial policy

Liberal Voices is not aligned with any party pressure group. As liberals we respect diverse views and aim to showcase all strands of opinion in the party and progressive politics. Well written and well argued articles will be published, regardless of their potential to offend readers of a delicate disposition, providing that they are polite and consistent with liberal values.
